Who runs this site

muludeboch.com is the personal site of Mulu Deboch, author and songwriter. AFDV Marketing builds and hosts it, and handles privacy requests for it.

What the site collects

If you leave a comment, the site stores the name, email address and website you type into the comment form, plus your IP address and the description your browser sends about itself. That is used to publish the comment and to catch spam. Comments are the only place the site asks you for anything.

Every visit also sends the ordinary things a browser sends: an IP address, a browser and device description, the page you asked for, and the page you came from.

Measurement

One measurement tool runs here, Microsoft Clarity. It records how the page is used, including clicks and scrolling, and it can replay a visit as a video. Microsoft stores those recordings.

There is no Google Analytics on this site. There is no advertising tracking and no social media pixel of any kind.

Translation

The site offers Amharic and English through GTranslate, which calls Google Translate. If you switch language, the page text and your request go to Google, and a cookie remembers the language you picked.

Cookies

The site sets a cookie to remember your consent choice. WordPress sets one if you leave a comment, so the form remembers your name next time, and one if you log in. Clarity sets cookies to recognise a session it has already seen. GTranslate sets one for your language.

Consent, and how to change it

Before anything measures you, the site works out where the request came from.

Visitors from the EU, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Brazil, Thailand, South Korea, South Africa and Quebec see a banner, and nothing beyond the essentials runs until they accept. Visitors from anywhere else are measured by default and can refuse.

The site reads the Global Privacy Control signal everywhere, not only where it is legally binding. That signal turns off advertising storage. This site runs no advertising tags, so in practice the signal has nothing to switch off here, but it is still honoured.

To change a choice you already made, clear this site's cookies in your browser. That deletes the stored answer and the question comes back. You can also opt out of Clarity at Microsoft directly.

Who else sees this

Microsoft, for Clarity. Google, but only if you use the translation switcher. Cloudflare, which sits in front of the site and filters traffic. Contabo, which rents the server the site runs on.

Nothing is sold. Nothing is shared for advertising.

How long it is kept

Comments and the data attached to them stay until they are deleted. Everything else is held for as long as the service holding it keeps it, under that service's own rules.

Your rights

You can ask what is held about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Write to the address below and say which site you are writing about.
